A traditional shutter consists of an outer frame and a set of doors attached to it with hinges. Each door has louvres that can be tilted to any angle and opened or closed. Perfect Fit Shutter Lite is an ingenious adaptation of the shutter door itself. Instead of the outer frame, Shutter Lite attaches the shutter door to a glass panel using clever brackets, eliminating the need for drilling. If you examine your window, each individual glass panel in that window would require a separate Shutter Lite door. For instance, if you have four glass panels, you would need four Shutter Lite doors.
To clarify, this isn’t a new product! We offer Urban Shutters (see our Urban Shutters product page), and Perfect Fit Shutter Lite uses the same, exact doors as Urban Shutters.
Perfect Fit Shutter Lite has a number of advantages over traditional shutters.
Typically, Shutter Lite is a more cost-effective option for installing shutters, both in terms of installation costs and the absence of an outer framework.
Removing the outer framework significantly increases the amount of natural light entering a room.
Traditional shutters may not be a viable option in many circumstances, too numerous to cover here. Issues with the squareness of the window, obstructions around it preventing a standard shutter from being fitted, or practical considerations of traditional shutter doors that open inward are just a few examples.
As the shutter doors are mounted on each panel of glass in your window, you can freely walk to any opening window, open it, and the shutter will simply stay attached to the window. You don’t need to open a complicated array of inward-opening doors just to open a window and let fresh air into the room.
Shutter Lite is an excellent product for traditional French doors (it doesn’t apply to sliding or bi-folding doors). While we don’t recommend traditional shutters for any type of doors, Shutter Lite works exceptionally well on French doors.
Most windows in the UK open outwards, but some people do have inwards opening windows. An inwards opening window can be difficult to use with a traditional shutter. Most inwards opening windows will support Perfect Fit Shutter Lite.
They are made from Polysink vinyl, a composite material originally developed in Canada. Canada is renowned for its extreme temperature fluctuations. During the winter, certain regions experience temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius, while in the summer, they can reach up to +40 degrees Celsius. Polysilk vinyl was specifically designed to withstand these extreme temperature conditions.
All of the extrusion takes place in the UK, and we manufacture Perfect Fit Shutter Lite ourselves in Colchester.
Daytime Privacy
Perfect Fit Shutter Lite is an excellent choice for providing daytime privacy, effectively blocking the view into your room during daylight hours. This is the core concept behind their design.
Protect items against fading
The louvres on the shutter provide excellent protection against fading. With shutters, you can also choose to separate how the louvres function on each shutter door.
Glare from the sun
The louvres on shutters allow excellent control over light.
Nightime Privacy
When the blinds are shut, you can be certain of complete privacy during the nighttime hours.
Thermal Gain (Heat)
Perfect Fit Shutter Lite is highly effective in reducing heat buildup during warmer temperatures because they completely cover the glass of the window.
Thermal Loss (Heat loss from inside your house)
Perfect Fit Shutter Lite is an effective solution for heat loss, but is not as effective are traditional shutters or Perfect Fit Pleated.
Blackout effect for bedrooms
Shutters are not blackout blinds, a common misconception. However, the amount of light that bleeds through a shutter is negligible. For a comprehensive understanding of your options for blackout blinds, visit our Blackout Blinds product page.
Your window must be made of uPVC or aluminium and must be a certain age. There are minimum and maximum gasket depths, which are the depths of the beading around the glass. Additionally, there are minimum and maximum widths and drops to consider. We discuss these factors during the survey, or alternatively, we can advise you by sending us a picture of your windows.
Perfect Fit Shutter Lite blinds are designed to be effortlessly unclipped and reclipped. While some blinds may be easier to unclip than others, depending on the size of your glass panels, a typical Shutter Lite blind can be unclipped in a matter of seconds.
We will always take the time to demonstrate how to unclip the blinds after installation.
In reality, most windows can be cleaned by using a cloth between the louvres and the panels. For a deep clean around the edge of the window, the blinds only need to be removed occasionally.
We offer a 10 year warranty on all our Shutter Lite blinds and we can fully repair any blind that is damaged.
Shutter Lite is a new product and there are a number of size restrictions. As a manufacturer and retailer, we have already encountered these restrictions and in some cases and have learned to adapt, installing them in windows that others would say could not be done. Get in touch if you have come across a size restriction as we may be able to help.
